Khadi, the livery of the freedom
- Mahatma Gandhi

As stated, Khadi was the livery of freedom, symbolism of revolution by Mahatma Gandhi. He was the die heart fan of Khadi because this fabric has generated an abundant employment opportunity for local skill workers at that time. In the freedom movement Khadi was personified as the freedom fighter of higher esteem, unfortunately as the time passed its monopoly faded away from the hearts of Indians. Many premium fabrics knocked the fashion doors bringing in their special features.

In such scenario, query must be arising in your mind that why one should prefer Khadi, especially when the market is crowded with premium fabric like nylon, Teflon etc. Here, I would like to enlighten your heart about the fabric, Khadi.

Khadi is a versatile fabric, cool in summer and warm in winter. In order to improve the look, Khadi/Khaddar is sometimes starched to give it a stiffer feel. It is widely accepted in fashion circles. The versatility and goodness of handmade fabric over manmade fabric is well established.

As the skin breathes, so should our fabric, our second skin. In a scenario when ecology occupies a center stage, healthy lifestyle demands that whatever we wear should allow free passage of air in order to act as natural conditioning for the skin. Machine--made fabric does not qualify as it is weaved too tight, and thus does not allow natural ventilation for the wearer. Khadi, because it is handspun and Hand-woven, retains the ability to ‘breathe’ - it is porous, loose, and bonds with relaxed ease. The fabric does not cloy to the skin, nor does it act as a greenhouse for the body, trapping it, as if in a suffocating vice; it keeps the wearer warm in winters and cool in summers.

At Ekmatra, you will find this elated fabric at a very competitive rate. An array of Khadi products lined up from ethnic wear for men, Nehru jackets, formal trousers, designer blouses, designer suits for women, linen shirts, formal shirts for men and lot more will surely win your hearts.
